51 year-old 1990s diet and fitness guru Susan Powter, best known for her “Stop the Insanity” infomercial, has her own community board connected to her blog. Like many before her, she has issues dealing with her haters. She posted a ranting video blog in which she went off on a male board user who was apparently posting rude comments and then mocked the responses from women speculating that she was stressed out.
“Who the f*ck do you think you are? When you’re doing a two hour radio show, then you can talk to me about what I’m doing. If you don’t like it, leave… don’t come on my website… you’re gonna be deleted. I will delete anything I deem deletable. That is my right… anyone who doesn’t understand that is a f’ing moron, and I don’t want them in my community anyway. I don’t want to hear their opinions anyway…
This discussion will end immediately, and anyone who participates in this discussion will be pulled from my community.”
Many of us have issues monitoring comments, but you have to take a kind of detached approach to it and not let it get to you. There are always going to be people talking crap on the Internet, and as one of those people I have learned to kind of see it as noise and not be personally affected by it. How do you think the celebrities deal with all ridiculous tabloid stories about them?
Susan Powter is an intense person with an ego that seems to be more for show than anything else. It’s understandable that she’s pissed off that people are talking smack, but she doesn’t have to explain herself. Maybe she feels that an explanation is owed to people, although sometimes it’s just best to deal with it, ignore it and move on.
