To say that Lil Wayne hasn't been a stranger to lawsuits in his career may be an understatement. The 34-year-old rapper has been at the center of a variety of lawsuits, perhaps most famously the ongoing $51 million suit he filed against Birdman back in 2015. But now, Wayne is being sued for allegedly punching a security guard in the face.
According to a report from TMZ, a man from California claims that he was punched in the face by Lil Wayne while he was working the front door of the Sunset Strip's Hyde nightclub. The incident allegedly occurred following the BET Music Awards. According to documents obtained by TMZ, the "Lollipop" rapper and his entourage showed up to the club acting belligerently, and several members of the entourage were turned away at the door.
Wayne then proceeded to argue with the bouncer over which members of his entourage should be let in. The guard then mistakenly grabbed Wayne by the arm, not knowing who Wayne was at the time. That's when Wayne allegedly punched him with a closed fist and knocked him the ground. The man claims that the rapper proceeded to throw a glass filled with alcohol into his face, and yelled "F**k you white boy!" As a result, the man is looking to sue Wayne for a hate crime.
The security guard suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident, and is suing Weezy, his label, and Hyde nightclub for damages for assault and battery. In addition, the man wants a $25,000 civil penalty because he thinks that Wayne's assault should be categorized as a hate crime.
Wayne's camp denies the charges.
