January 24 marks a bittersweet day for Queer Eye megafans. Although season 8 arrives on Netflix, it’s Bobby Berk’s last hoorah on the show. For the past six years, the Fab Five has been transforming Heroes’ lives. It’s time to wipe away tears and take a look back at some of the best moments from seasons 1 to 7 ahead of the new episodes’ arrival.

When Queer Eye‘s 2018 reboot first arrived on Netflix, Tan France explained the first show was “fighting for tolerance” and the reboot “is for acceptance.” Since then, the Fab Five has taken viewers along with them for eight seasons and a spin-off in Japan – and it’s been one heck of a journey. With a whopping 11 Emmys under their belts, it’s safe to say Karamo Brown, Bobby, and co are acing their roles as experts.

Jones Bar-B-Q

Season 3 saw The Fab Five head to Kansas City. Not only did the guys find the best BBQ in town, but they also met the Jones sisters.

Deborah, known as ‘Little’ and Mary, who goes by ‘Shorty’, are passionate about their pit master careers and their hard work was undeniably deserving of some recognition.

The two were nominated by Deborah’s daughter who said her mom and aunt opened their BBQ restaurant to help her get through college.

The Jones sisters did all they could for everyone around them and their Queer Eye episode was the perfect opportunity for them to receive some help and thanks.

By the end of their time with the Fab Five, the sisters were “slaying,” thanks to Jonathan Van Ness and the rest of the experts. The ladies were ready to start selling their very own sauce after their life makeovers.

You Can’t Fix Ugly from Queer Eye season 1

Queer Eye season 1 episode 1 is arguably the undisputed champion when it comes to fans’ favorite episodes.

The late star of the show, Tom Jackson, 57, melted viewers’ hearts with his pure personality and unlucky love life.

Tom’s daughter described him as a “hot mess” while some of his friends said he “needed to clean up his act.”

The Netflix star’s transformation was major as he beamed from ear to ear saying he’d “never dreamed” of being “handsome.” Following his makeover, Tom reconnected with his ex-wife, Abbey, but the two ended up going their separate ways once again.

Sadly, Tom passed away last year after a battle with cancer.

As many remember the late Georgia native ahead of season 8’s release, some admit they are brought to tears each time they watch the episode.

Season 6 – Craw Zaddy

When viewers met season 6’s Todd Maddox, he explained how he was “meant to be retired” but his life was all about Plookys Cajun Boilin Pot.

Episode 5 takes the Fab Five to Canyon Lake, Texas where they meet the 67-year-old at his seafood restaurant.

He was nominated by his daughter, Casey, because he “didn’t spend any time on himself” and spent his days in the “time capsule” of an eatery as he wanted to remember his late wife.

Both Casey and her father were in tears when his big reveal came around.

Todd decided to step back within his role in the restaurant but said he will still keep his promise to his late wife.

He thanked each of the Fab Five one-by-one for changing his life. Speaking to Jonathan after his makeover, he said: “Thankyou… it makes me feel beautiful.”

Season 2’s A Decent Proposal

In Queer Eye season 2, Antoni, Tan, and co-drove to Dahlonega, Georgia to meet their next Hero.

William Menkin, 41, was nominated by his girlfriend, Shannan, who said his style was stuck in the seventies.

Shannan also said her boyfriend was a great cook, but only makes the same thing over and over.

William was living in fear of rejection and dealing with social anxiety but adorably ended the episode proposing to Shannan.

The Hero was practically unrecognizable at the end of his makeover and had his fiancé in tears. Speaking to Shannan, William thanked her and said he didn’t realize a “simple haircut” could change his life so much.

Speedy from Queer Eye season 7

Another top-ranking episode for Queer Eye fans is season 7’s Speedy for Life.

Heading over to New Orleans, Louisiana, viewers are introduced to Ray ‘Speedy’ Walker. He wanted to motivate people to be their best selves by sharing his moving story.

Speedy, his mother, and his aunt, were in a car accident which sadly saw his family members pass away. He was rushed to hospital and had emergency surgery on his spinal cord. The Netflix star was told he’d “never walk again” and said he “cried almost every night” dealing with the aftermath of the accident during the global pandemic.

In his younger years, he had dreams of becoming a basketball player. But, Bobby explained at 18 years old, Speedy was robbed of them.

At the end of episode 3, the interior design expert said: “It just makes me so happy he now has such a smile on his face.”

Speedy’s home was transformed to be more accessible for him, which he said would save him “so much time, and energy.”
